Surfing/Watersports

Bude and North Cornwall is known for great surfing on beaches such as Widemouth Bay, Summerleaze and Crooklets. Sandy Mouth and Crackington Haven are just a short drive away. All these beaches have lifeguards during the summer months.

Surf lessons, equipment and board / wetsuit hire can all be arranged locally. Check out www.zumajay.co.uk for great service, advice and surf forecasts. There is plenty of room on the farm to store your surf boards, wetsuits etc.

Cycling

There are numerous cycle trails in the immediate area – but be prepared for some steep hills! The Camel Trail a relatively flat disused railway, stretches from Padstow to the moors.

The Tarka Trail near Bideford is similar and runs form the heart of the Devon countryside to the estuary at Barnstaple Bay.

The Dartmoor Way cycle route sweeps around the periphery of the Dartmoor National Park for over 90 miles linking many towns and attractions along its length, with an option to ride across the centre of the Park via Princetown.

The North Cornwall Trail starting in Bude and runs very close to Hele Barton. Using mainly quiet country lanes, this National Cycle Route eventually links up with the famous Camel Trail.

Bikes can be hired locally on all of these trails.

Golf

For golfers the number of courses in the area should keep you busy for weeks!

Bude itself has a lovely, dry course, accessible all year and set right by the sea.

Locally you may also like to try Trethorne, Launceston.

Horse Riding

Efford Farm Stables provides scenic rides across the the cliffs near Bude. For experienced riders we also recommend a two hour ride on the open moors of Dartmoor. We can make the booking for you!
